Estrela!

Star!
I was amazed when I saw these new dried organic products. It's called "Pau Terra Estrela" (a translation for that could be "earth wood star", I guess...). They come in beautiful colors: yellow, red, green and natural cream.

A world without boundaries
Internet is really amazing. Just imagine this huge world we live in, with so many distant places, seeming so small. You meet so many people who share the same interests in a never ending social network! By the way, who said the world has boundaries?
A few days ago, Anabel Sousa, an Argentinian designer who lives in Paris, invited me to answer some questions for her blogs (she has one in English and another in Spanish). Anabel makes beautiful work in her shops at Etsy and DaWanda . I was so surprised and happy to know about her interest in my work! And I loved the result! She made beautiful compositions with the photos, just take a look here.

Alicja e Jakub Wyganowski

O resultado desta parceria é impressionantemente belo!
Alicjia and Jakub have been glodsmiths for many years. They also own the F150 Gallery, in Warsaw, Polland.
They share an amazing partnership in creating their pieces. In their own words "...while Jakub strikes the iron Alicjia smoothes the curves". The result of this partnership is quite impressive, beautiful and delicate!

Achados...Parte 2

Findings ...Part 2
Some days ago I wrote a post about these new products and showed the necklace that I had made. Now take a look of these earrings, made with the same material. I used sterling silver wire and added a barroque pearl to finish.

She wanted to tell me that my blue carambolas choker made Front Page on Etsy! Besides being a friend and a messenger of great news, Yael is a great designer and I love her work!

As figuras parecem dançar e flutuar.

Ursula Gerber Senger, born in Zurich, Germany, is a fine artist and works with textile and fiber.
The subtle delicacy of her "Time Flies 2007" work , made with stainless steel and bronze, caught my eyes and I was totally involved by its magic. The little women figures seem to dance and float in the air. Its beauty causes great emotion.

Artist's Statement:

“Time flies” stands for the rapid changes being experienced in today’s world. In my work I am depicting the speed and the pace of today’s world. Our workflow and mobility is becoming more rapid and faster, human relationships are becoming more challenging and more demanding and social bonding more fragile. The flood of information we are receiving today causes a fragile surface like walking on thin ice, on which we struggle and grasp for orientation. "
You can find others works in her site. It's worth the visit!

Blog Carnival for EtsyBloggers Team

I am very glad to be one the new members of the EtsyBloggers Team and this is my post for the June 5th Blog Carnival:
June Symbols: Birthstone - Pearl
Pearl is a gem of great beauty and elegance. Ancient civilizations had many stories to explain the origin of June's birthstone, such as the Greek belief that pearls were the hardened tears of joy that the goddess of love shook from her eyes as she was born from the sea. According to Arab legend, pearls were formed when oysters were lured from the depths of the ocean by the beautiful moon and then swallowed moonlit dewdrops. And the Ancient Chinese thought that these gems originated from the brains of dragons.
The scientific explanation for natural pearls is almost as mystifying as folklore. When an irritant, such as a small parasite or a fish, lodges in the flesh of an oyster, mussel, or clam, a protective substance called "nacre" is produced. Over years, layer upon layer of shimmering nacre coats the intruder, creating a lustrous pearl. Natural pearls are relatively rare, so a process evolved in which a piece of shell or bead was placed inside a mollusk to stimulate the production of nacre. This results in a cultured pearl, which accounts for about 90 per cent of the pearl industry.

Divers find natural pearls in The Persian Gulf as well as in the waters off Japan, the South Pacific Islands off northern Australia, and the coasts of Panama, Venezuela, and California. Most of the cultured pearl industry is in Japanese and Australian coastal waters. These gems come in a variety of colors, from pure white to pink, yellow, gray and black. They also come in different shapes and sizes.

Pearls have been a passion and even an obsession of people throughout the ages. They have been ground up and used in cosmetics and as a medicine to treat heart and stomach conditions and have adorned crowns, clothing, and temples. Only those with royal status once wore pearl jewelry, but eventually these gems were seen among all classes of people.
Today, they continue to be viewed as a mark of taste and refinement as well as a symbol of purity, and they are often given to celebrate a marriage or the birth of a child. Pearls are nature's perfect gift, suitable for all ages and elegantly worn with everything from jeans to an evening gown.
